Objectives

This course provides some advanced tools for the analysis and control of multivariable linear systems. The student will be able to state and solve control problems in a multi-input multi-output environment, with particular emphasis on robust stability and performance, which will be treated in the frequency domain.

Type of exam: Written test, Oral test

Program

Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) systems: performance and performance limitations, robustness (additive and multiplicative representations) in the frequency domain, unstructured vs. structured uncertainty, small gain theorem, general control problem, robust stability and robust performance.
Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems: Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and directionality, loop shaping, robustness, structured singular value (SSV), mu-synthesis control problem.
Case studies.

Type of exam: Written test, Oral test
