Antonio Pietrabissa graduated in Electronic Engineering from the "Sapienza" University of Rome, in 2000, where he received the Ph.D. in System Engineering in 2004. From 2004 to 2009, he held a Post-Doc position with the Dept. of System and Computer Science of the "Sapienza" university. Since 2010, he is Assistant Professor with the same department. Since 2008 Antonio Pietrabissa collaborate with the Consortium for the Research in Automation and Telecommunication (CRAT) within European and Italian research projects. In 2009 he founded the "Space Research Group" of CRAT, which, to date, participated in the projects EMERSAT (ASI, Italian Space Agency), MONET (EU FP6) and SWIPE (EU FP7). He is member of the Tecnical Scientific Committee of the enterprise ARES2T, since 2013, and of CRAT, since 2015.

Since 2000, he has been working in 15 projects funded by the European Union, two projects projects funded by ESA,  and three projects projects funded by the Italian Ministry for Education, Universities and Research (MIUR). A. Pietrabissa was the scientific responible for the research unit in two projects funded bu the European Union (FP7 SWIPE, FP7 T-NOVA) and in one project funded by MIUR (FILAS DAAS), of which he was also the project tecnical leader. Currently, he is the scientific co-responsible of the research unit in two projects funded bu the European Union (H2020 BONVOYAGE, H2020 ATENA).

His research focus is the application of system and control theory methodologies to networked systems (communication, distribution, transport, critical infrastructure). Topics of interest are the design of connection admission control procedures, of congestion control mechanisms, of load balancing algorithms and of medium access control protocols with methods for the analysis and control of networked systems, time-delay systems, Markov decision processes, reinforcement learning. He is author or co-author of 32 papers on international journal, one paper on national journal, 9 book chapters and 67 international conference papers on these topics.
