ADMISSIONS 2024-25

This page contains information for students having a foreign degree who want to apply to the master program in Control Engineering for the next available academic year. Please note that there is no half-year/midterm admission.

Admission requirements and procedure

The Master of Science in Control Engineering typically admits students having a three-year (or four-year) bachelor degree, such as the B.S.E. in Computer Science and Control Engineering issued at DIAG, Sapienza (available in similar form also in other Italian or foreign universities). This Master fits also to a large variety of students having a bachelor degree with technical/scientific background in the areas of information engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics. All students must have a good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Application documents will be evaluated first. Students with a curriculum that satisfies minimum requirements on basic (bachelor) education in the technical and scientific domains of Systems Theory, Automatic Control, and Automation Engineering will be interviewed for admission. This document provides information about basic concepts and methods on Linear Systems analysis and Feedback Control design that are assumed to be known by the candidate in order to be admitted to the master course. Candidates will be evaluated by technical questions on these concepts and methods during the interview.

The technical interview (of about 20 minutes, via Skype) is intended to better understand the candidate's academic and professional background, his/her technical competences and skills, and also the motivations for pursuing a master degree in Control Engineering.

Tuition fees

In this link, students can find all the needed information on Sapienza’s tuition fees.:

Please, note that the yearly fee can be paid in three installments (by the end of October, in December, and in March). For more details, see this Sapienza page.

Tuition fees cover courses, exams, access to laboratories, to the library, and to other department facilities. The fee does not include housing, books, or any other course material required by the Master program. Students who will be granted a Laziodisco scholarship will be exempted from payment of full tuition fees (only the part due to the local tax from Regione Lazio, about 140 Euro, will be requested).

Students who have not yet completed their course of study, but expect to complete it by August 2024, can apply to the Master program by supplying an official document from their university confirming the expected graduation date. This document will only be a temporary substitute for the official copy of the final diploma.

After completing the online application, students should follow a three-step procedure:

  1. Enroll on Universitaly.it by the 30th of June 2024. This procedure is mandatory and strictly connected with the request of VISA to your local Italian Embassy/Consulate or Italian Institute of Culture. As for the needed documents, besides those listed above, you’ll need to present the Pre-selection you should have already received by then by Sapienza University. You can find all the information you need in this link.
  2. Register as a master student of Sapienza. Students admitted to the Master in Control Engineering must complete their enrollment by:
    • registering on line to our Infostud web portal (you can switch to English in that page to compile the form)
    • contacting the International Student Registration Office of Sapienza, immediately upon your arrival in Rome

We suggest not to proceed too soon to the registration on Infostud, rather to start from the mid of July 2024 when complete administrative information on academic year 2024-25 will be available on the Sapienza web sites. The deadline for enrollment is by the end of 2024, but we strongly recommend completing it by September 2024, before the beginning of classes.
