Riccardo Lazzeretti, nell'ambito della procedura di valutazione di  Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato tipologia B, ai fini della chiamata nel ruolo di Professore di II fascia presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica Automatica e Gestionale Antonio Ruberti, ai sensi dell’art. 24, comma 5, legge 240/2010, SSD ING-INF/05 – SC 09/H1 terrà un seminario sull'attività di ricerca svolte e in corso di svolgimento.

Title: Collective remote attestation of dynamic networks

Abstract:
Nowadays, Internet of Things (IoT) devices are widely used in several application scenarios. Due to their cheap structure, they often do not guarantee high security standards, making them prone to hacker attacks. Remote attestation is widely used to verify the configuration integrity on remote devices. Unfortunately, checking the integrity of every single device is impractical, thus several collective remote attestation protocols have been recently proposed to efficiently run attestations in wide device swarms. However, current solutions still have several limitations in terms of network topology, scalability, and efficiency. Riccardo presents a new efficient collective remote attestation protocol for highly dynamic networks. Our protocol is implemented according to the self-attestation procedure, where devices iteratively establish a common view of the integrity of the network through a consensus mechanism. Differently from previous protocols, it leverages Bloom filters, which permits to drastically reduce the message size for communication and is more flexible with mobile nodes that can also join or leave the swarm. Riccardo will conclude his presentation by discussing other ongoing activities.

Short bio: Riccardo Lazzeretti is an assistant professor at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, since 2017. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Siena, Italy in 2012 and has been a Post-Doc Researcher at the University of Siena and the University of Padua. He has also been a visiting researcher at Philips Lab, Eindhoven, Netherland (2010). He is Associate Editor of Elsevier JISA and IEEE Senior Member. His research is principally focused on privacy-preserving protocols. Recently he approached security and privacy in the Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems. Riccardo has co-authored many publications in the security and privacy area, including the paper: "SEMBA: SEcure Multi Biometric Authentication", which received the Best Paper Award 2021 of the IET Biometrics journal.
