Our aim is to question the characteristics of the European scientific base, highlighting some structural weaknesses in the system of scientific research and in the system for transfer of technology and knowledge from research universities to corporate actors. Focusing on the French scenario we draw some conclusions on what should be an appropriate science policy as a prerequisite of industrial policy. More specifically we will focus on particular channel of interactions between University and Industry.
