Understanding natural language is one of the grand goals to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). In the last few years, also thanks to the availability of a large amount of textual data, we have closed the gap in many with respect to human performance, in many real-world NLP tasks. In this course we will review the fundamental ideas behind "modern" neural networks based approaches to NLP. We will review results and we will mention the main open problems that are interesting from a research perspective.

This series of seminars is organized by the Data Science Doctoral Program.
