Roberta Sestini graduated summa cum laude from the University of Siena, Italy.

After a short work experience as consultant in Milan, she achieved her MSc Degree in Economics from the University of Warwick UK and then a PhD in Economic Theory from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. In the same period she was Visiting scholar for one semester at Columbia University, NYC (U.S.A.).

Since 2002 she was Post doc research fellow at the Dept of Computer and Systems Sciences, Faculty of Engineering,  University of  Rome, “La Sapienza", when she became Assistant Professor of Economics in 2004. In 2005 she was Honorary Visiting Fellow at the University of Leicester (U.K.).

She has been first Teaching assistant and then Lecturer in Economics at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy, since 2000, teaching undergraduate courses in Microeconomics and Environmental Economics.

Among the main past professional activities, she was:

- Research Assistant in the economic research department of the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (Italian Competition Authority), Rome, Italy,

- Research Fellow on a project on “Regulation of Prices in the Telecommunication Sector”, at CEIS (Center for International Studies on Economic Growth), University of Rome “Tor Vergata”,

- Consultant at C.N.E.L. (National Council for Economics and Labour), Rome, Italy,

- Research Fellow on a project on “The Job Creation Potential of the Service Sector in Europe” commissioned by the European Commission, DG V, at Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, Rome, Italy.

Over the last ten years she has published in international journals, such as Journal of Regulatory Economics, Labour, Economic Modelling, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Review of International Economics, and she has attended on a regular basis international conferences in IO, Microeconomics, Environmental Economics, presenting her research work.
