Roberto Navigli is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering at the Sapienza University of Rome. From 2010 to 2017 he has held the position of Associate Professor and from 2007 to 2010 the position of Researcher in the Department of Computer Science of the same university. He obtained his degree in Computer Science from the "Sapienza" University of Rome in 2001, and went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the "Sapienza" University in 2007.

His research lies in the area of Natural Language Processing, with a particular focus on multinguality, lexical semantics (Word Sense Disambiguation and induction), sentence-level semantics (Semantic Role Labeling and Semantic Parsing), and innovative Large Language Models (LLMs), being the leader of the Minerva LLM project (https://nlp.uniroma1.it/minerva) in the context of the Future AI Research Project (FAIR). He is the creator of BabelNet (http://babelnet.org) and the co-founder of a successul Sapienza spinoff company, Babelscape (https://babelscape.com), working with several EU and Italian public bodies and international customers.

- Winner of two ERC Grants in "computer science and informatics" (the MultiJEDI ERC Starting Grant 2010-2016 and the MOUSSE ERC Consolidator Grant 2017-2023, for a total of around 3 million euros)
- PI of PRIN 2017 and PRIN 2020 projects (overall 1.4 million euros).
- Recipient of a Google Focused Research Award (around 300k$, with DFKI Berlin)
- Sapienza coordinator of ELEXIS project (2018-2022, share: around 450000 euros).

- Sapienza coordinator of the LIDER EU project (2013-2015, share: around 90000 euros)
